How to Add Progressive Profiling Questions to a Guest WiFi Portal
What is progressive profiling?
Progressive profiling is a data collection method that gradually gathers customer information over multiple interactions rather than with a single long form. By showing new questions to returning guest WiFi users, marketers can gradually and effectively collect detailed insights.
Typically, the first interaction asks for basic info like name and email. The next time, you could request their date of birth or gender. Each new WiFi login peels another layer of your customer's preferences and behaviours.
The Progressive Profiling feature allows your marketing team access to customise the Captive Portal with the below features:
-
Return user page
-
Configurable & dynamic form for additional customer data capture
- Marketing opt-in
How to add progressive profiling questions to your guest WiFi portal
1. When editing your portal, navigate to the "Return User" screen.
2. If not already on your portal, click and drag the "Return User Fields" widget to add.
3. Select the fields you wish to include for progressive profiling.
4. You can set these as optional or required like other form items on the portal.
5. Click and drag on the arrow icons to reorder the priority of return user questions on the portal
6. Once you have the questions in the right order, click "Close" - don't forget to save and test your portal prior to publishing.
NOTE: Only one field will render on the portal at a time - this is expected behaviour.
Progressive Profiling allows for the collection of further information upon subsequent logins. Returning users are presented with additional profile questions, which weren't previously asked on the registration page, before proceeding to their free WiFi session.
